Taking a flight to Recife is simple and easy to do. A flight to Recife can land at the new Gilberto Freyre International Airport, which was just opened in 2004. This airport covers over fifty two thousand square meters. The old name for the airport still sticks, and most residents call it Guararapes Airport. It is the largest airport in the Northeastern region of Brazil. The expansion to the airport allows for five million passengers to catch a flight or come to Recife for vacation or business each year. The new airport has sixty four check in counters, for convenience concerning flight passengers in Recife, but also to operate more efficiently.

Hiring a car in Recife is very easy at the Gilberto Freyre International Airport, and elsewhere through the city. There are numerous car hire agencies to choose from, and rates vary from very cheap to very expensive, depending on the agency and the car you choose. It is very easy to do a little research online and get the name of at least a dozen car for hire agencies in Recife, and the requirements vary but most are not too extensive. With the extensive beaches and great things to see and do, using a car for hire may be a good idea if you plan on traveling far distances or lots of places in a short time.

American Airlines to add daily flights to Recife

American Airlines, will start daily flights from Miami to Recife on Nov. 2,

According to MarketWatch:

Recife, also on the northeast coast, is often called the “Venice of Brazil” because of numerous waterways and bridges that cross the city. Nearby white-sand beaches and a vibrant culture add to the color of Recife, and two ports make the city a prime business center.

They also posted the introductory fares for those flights:

American’s introductory fares start as low as $425* each way (with required round-trip purchase), making a trip to Brazil as affordable as it is convenient. And with double AAdvantage miles** to all three new destinations, traveling to Brazil will be rewarding as well.

It seems that a new bunch of Americans will be coming to Recife next year, who until now they had to struggle by going first to São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro and then come to Recife on a domestic flight, this was very expensive and time consuming.

Finally American Airlines did it, until now Recife only received regular international flights from Lisbon via TAP.
